CT Trails Day Hike

Pinnacle Ridge
Wednesday, July 19, 10 am
Enjoy the natural beauty of the Town of Farmington's newest open space acquisition. The South Ridge open space includes 90 acres along the southern extent of the Metacomet Ridge in Farmington. The hike, led by Liz Dolphin, will be an up and back hike along about a mile of the National New England Scenic Trail between Pinnacle Ridge and the property's northern boundary. We plan to visit Hospital Rock, an 18th century smallpox asylum, and explore the abandoned 19th century Settlement Road connecting Farmington and New Britain over the ridge line.
Wear good hiking shoes or boots and bring your binoculars, we might get lucky to see migrating hawks. We will meet at the trail head on Metacomet Road in Plainville, just east of the southern end of Farmington's South Ridge Road. Do watch the "No Parking" signs on both South Ridge and Metacomet Roads. There is no parking immediately near the trailhead.
Look forward to seeing you there!
This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. No pets please.
Heavy rain cancels.
