About the event

Winter can be a great time to see wildlife in a new context. bald eagles are common throughout the year in our town, but depending on the weather, eagles move around to find food. Monitoring them during this time of year can help us understand their seasonal need and underscores the importance of the Farmington River ad a year-round habitat.

Since 1979, volunteers from Connecticut have participated in a nationwide survey to monitor the status of wintering bald eagle populations in the contiguous United States. Participants monitor standard routes within a specific window of time.

FLT will be helping monitor the sections of the Farmington River on January 10th and we need volunteers! Sign up to help between the hours of 7-11 am.
